Nord de l’Italie, hiver 1944. Après un assaut qui s’est transformé en débâcle, pris de panique, plusieurs soldats se retrouvent coupés de leur régiment. Inexpérimentés, appartenant au contingent brésilien allié aux américains, ils craignent de se voir accusés de désertion. Afin de se racheter, ils décident de déminer la Route 47, point de passage incontournable pour les alliés.
