Diane et sa fille Amara, 16 ans, s’installent dans la maison secondaire du défunt mari de Diane, un peintre renommé. Pour ce nouveau départ dans leur vie, Diane a l’intention d’ouvrir une galerie d’art dans l’immeuble qu’elle vient de remporter aux enchères. Très vite pourtant, la jeune femme se sent épiée et des incidents se produisent. Enfermée dans un sa galerie, un incendie éclate et elle ne doit la vie qu’à l’intervention de son charmant voisin, Paul, un restaurateur. De son côté, Amara tente de s’intégrer dans son nouveau lycée. Elle y fait la connaissance de Heather et Becky.
