En revenant de son jogging, Myriam trouve sa maison vide. Son conjoint Alexandre a disparu et quelques-unes de ses affaires se sont volatilisées. Afin de comprendre ce qui lui est arrivé, elle fait appel à Robert, un expert en sinistre qui mène une existence anonyme. Myriam cache la disparition de son amoureux à ses collègues de travail. Alexandre est un architecte renommé et il était sur le point de s'occuper d'un projet important. Il est remplacé par Frédéric, un jeune novice fragile qui aimerait percer dans le métier afin de renouer avec son ancienne flamme et prouver sa valeur à son père.
