Danny, un génie de 15 ans, a beaucoup de mal à s’intégrer dans son l’école et passe son temps à créer des inventions. Alors, quand la Cranston Academy, un pensionnat secret et prestigieux pour les génies, lui offre une bourse, il voit enfin un lieu où son intelligence sera reconnue. Malheureusement, pour prouver ses compétences, Danny ouvre un portail vers une autre dimension et libère une nuée de monstres sur l’école. Avec l’aide de sa colocataire Liz et Mothman, un professeur mi-homme mi-papillon, il va devoir vaincre ces démons et ceux qui se cachent en lui pour sauver son pensionnat.
