Leah Lemonnier, 35 ans, mène une vie morne et déprimante, entre son travail de secrétaire d'un dentiste qui passe son temps à la houspiller, son analyste qui ne voit en elle qu'une source de revenus, son voisin obsédé sexuel et fêtard, et sa mère égoïste, avare, méprisante et narcissique. Mais un jour, elle invoque sans le vouloir un séduisant démon, Abargadon, qui lui propose un pacte : il se met à son service jusqu'à sa mort en échange de son âme... Léah signe le pacte, bientôt annulé par l'intervention de l'archange Gabriel, qui annonce à Abargadon qu'il s'est trompé de proie. La vie de Léah et de son compagnon va alors devenir un enfer.
