Alger, quelques années après la guerre civile. Amal et Samir ont décidé de fêter leur vingtième anniversaire de mariage au restaurant. Pendant leur trajet, tous deux évoquent leur Algérie : Amal, à travers la perte des illusions, Samir par la nécessité de s'en accommoder.
