Vingt ans après que le roi d'Argos l'ait condamné à l'exil, Persée, fils du dieu Zeus et de la mortelle Danaé, doit reconquérir le royaume qui lui appartient. Soutenu par son père, il commence par libérer la princesse Andromaque, et en tombe éperdument amoureux. Mais la déesse Thétis et son fils, Calibos font peser sur la belle une terrible malédiction : tous ceux voulant l'épouser devront, sous peine de mort, répondre à une énigme. Jusqu'ici, aucun n'a su trouver la bonne réponse...Qu'à cela ne tienne, Persée a bien l'intention de défier la puissance des dieux et de braver mille dangers pour réaliser l'impossible : affronter des sorcières démoniaques et cannibales, combattre le cerbère, trancher la tête de Méduse, une créature capable de changer ses victimes en statues de pierres...
