Sainteville est un vieux royaliste antidreyfusard, qui refuse le siècle nouveau. Ruiné, le comte a loué une aile du château à des Lyonnais: Blanche, son époux Ernest, contremaître devenu patron, et leurs filles, Suzanne et Yvonne.
