Même si sa compagne peut comprendre l'ambition culinaire de Jacky, il s'agit aussi de faire bouillir la marmite. Aussi accepte-t-il n'importe quel petit boulot. Et lorsqu'on lui propose enfin un poste dans une cuisine, il n'est pas question d'autre chose que de steaks et de saucisses. C'est alors que son chemin croise celui d'Alexandre Lagarde, un chef étoilé célèbre, mis en difficulté par le groupe financier propriétaire de ses enseignes. Si Lagarde devait perdre la moindre étoile, il serait congédié sur-le-champ. Or, le malheureux n'a plus d'idée...
