Alice a épousé Christophe Grant qui l'aime telle qu'elle est, malgré la disgrâce physique avec laquelle elle vit, apparemment résignée, depuis toujours. Lorsque, candidate à un poste important dans la société de cosmétique qui l'emploie, Alice se voit "voler" ce poste par une très jolie femme, pourtant moins qualifiée qu'elle, son existence bascule. Encouragée par son ami Laurent, piégée par sa fille Julia, elle finit par accepter l'opération qui va lui changer la vie, malgré l'opposition de son mari. Pour Christophe, le retour d'Alice, sublime et radieuse, va marquer le début d'une descente en enfer. Malgré l'amour sincère d'Alice, Christophe, fou de jalousie, va s'enfoncer dans la déprime et faire payer à Alice ce qu'il vit comme une trahison, jusqu'à commettre l'irréparable...
