Shep, ancienne star de basketball, est devenu agent de sécurité dans une "High School" de Harlem. Cette star déchue vit avec l'angoisse de son passé et refuse tout contact avec la balle orange. Jusqu'au jour où il remarque Kyle, un jeune prodige du club de basket de l'école, pris au piège des gangs, de la drogue et du crime. Shep va alors aider Kyle à réaliser son rêve : accéder à la NBA mais par la seule loi du sport.
